Waste of Time
I stepped into the clock today,
and It carried me away.
Through corridors of what-has-been,
and the streets of yesterday.
Then met myself upon the road,
and warned him not to go,
yet still he went, as I had done,
no way to stop the show.
Because he stepped into the clock,
I waited standing there,
and knew the step was made in vain,
a warning to forswear.
Coming down the road again,
he tried to make me stay.
Yet still I went, with urgent need,
trying to save the day.
Stepping into the clock again,
I could see the trap entire.
It’s clear to me, we must believe,
our logic is a liar.
I met him on the road once more,
and pleaded with great care.
Yet still he went, as I had done,
to free me from this snare.
So round we turn, opposed in aim,
each self denies the last.
Forever split in this game,
never moving past.
No door find us, no exit seen,
the loop replays in kind.
Repeatedly we learn nothing,
just endless wasted time.
